✦ Synopsis

A 2.4 kbp XbaI fragment of rainbow trout mitochondrial DNA was cloned into pTZ18R. DNA sequence analysis reveals that this segment of the genome encodes URF3, tRNA(Arg), URF4L and URF4 in the same orientation as other vertebrate mitochondrial genomes. Comparison of these segments of the rainbow trout mitochondrial genome with the corresponding sequences in human mitochondrial DNA shows that approximately 60% of the nucleotides are the same in both species.

The complete nucleotide sequence of the mitochondrial DNA of the rainbow trout, Onchorynchus mykiss, has been determined. The total length of the molecule is 16,660 bp. The rainbow trout mitochondrial DNA has the same organization described in eutherian mammals, the clawed frog (Xenopus laevis), and

The minimal fragment of mitochondrial DNA from Papaver somniferum L. (poppy) able to promote autonomous plasmid replication in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae was sequenced. Sequence analysis of the 917-bp MK4/8 DNA fragment revealed a high AT content, and the presence of two 12-bp sequences diff
