Basolaterai membranes obtained by self-orienting Percoll-gradient centrifugation were treated with 5 mM CaClz to minimize the cross-contamination by brush border membranes. From marker enzyme-q&tic activities it was calculated that in this preparation the basolateral/brush border membrane ratio was
