The products of the electronically excited, metastable He\* + C2H 2 diffusion flame reaction, using a dc discharge diffusion flame technique, are C2", CH\*, H\*, C\*, and possibly C4H\* or :C=CH 2 (vinylidene). The primary reactions observed in the flame are He\* + C 2H 2 -"\* C 2\* + H\* + H + He a
