Trifluoroacetonyl Radicals: A Versatile Approach to Trifluoromethyl Ketones.

-Peroxide-initiated radical reaction of S-trifluoroacetonyl dithiocarbonate (I) with alkenes provides a versatile approach to a variety of functionalized trifluoromethyl ketones (III) (11 examples), which are inaccessible by other routes. The mild methodology appears to be tolerant towards many functional groups.
