Trialkylmanganate-Induced Cyclization of Allyl 2-Iodophenyl Ether, N,N-Diallyl-2-iodoaniline, and α-Iodo Acetal.

-A new and effective method for the preparation of dihydrobenzofurans, indoles, and tetrahydrofurans by the title cyclization using LiMnBu 3 or Bu 3 Mn-MgBr is presented. The use of Bu 3 Mn-MgBr is as equally effective as LiMnBu 3 , whereas Bu 2 Mn, BuMnCl, and LiMnMe 3 do not give any cyclized products. -(NAKAO, J.;

Radical Cyclization of Allyl 2-Iodophenyl Ether, N,N-Diallyl-2iodoaniline, and 2-Iodoethanal Acetal by Means of Trialkylmanganate(II). -Treatment of halophenyl ethers, N,N-diallyl haloanilines or iodoethanal acetals with Bu 3 MnLi provides the corresponding benzofurans or indolines in good yields.
