-Reduction of chlorodifluoromethylated ketones with TDAE as an effective reductant generates α,α-difluoroacetyl anions, which are trapped by aldehydes to yield the corresponding 2,2-difluoro-3-hydroxy ketones (III) in moderate yield. -
