Synthesis, Thermal Investigations and Solubility of a New Double Salt K2Mg(IO3)4•2H2O.
-The novel title salt is prepared either by addition of a stoichiometric amount of Mg(IO3)2•4H2O to a saturated solution of KIO3 at 40 • C or by desalination with EtOH of mixed 1% Mg( IO3)2 and 3% KIO3 solutions. A mechanism for the thermal decomposition is proposed. The standard enthalpy of formation δfH • 298 is calculated from the δH • parameters recorded by DSC. The activation energy E* and the preexponential factor z for the dehydration process are calculated and the type of kinetic equation characterizing the process of dehydration and decomposition of the double salts to iodates is determined. -(RABADJIEVA, D.;
