Synthesis of Hexamethoxyphenantrenes:

An Efficient Phenanthrene Synthesis via Intramolecular Oxidative Cyclization of 2,2'-Dihydrazonylbiphenyls.

-The intramolecular cyclization of hexamethoxybiphenyls to their phenanthrene analogues is discussed. This is successful by starting from the corresponding diformylbiphenyls.
