✦ Synopsis

Synthesis, Crystal Structure and Magnetic Properties of the Open Framework Compound Co3Te2O2(PO4)2(OH)4. -Single crystals of the title compound are hydrothermally synthesized from a mixture of CoCl2, TeO2, NH4H2PO4, and H2O (autoclave, 180 Β°C, 7 d). The compound crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/m with Z = 2. The open framework structure contains chains of edge-sharing [CoO6] octahedra and corner-sharing [TeO 3 (OH) 2 ], [PO 4 ], and [CoO 2 (OH) 4 ] groups. Magnetic susceptibility measurements between 2 and 300 K reveal two broad anomalies at around 21 and 4 K, respectively. The transition at about 20 K is ascribed to a two-dimensional antiferromagnetic ordering of the [CoO6] chains. At 4 K a second antiferromagnetic ordering of Co moments occurs via super-super exchange involving [PO4] and [TeO3(OH)2] groups. -(ZIMMERMANN, I.;
