โœฆ Synopsis

Synthesis

and Reactivity of a N-Aryl-2-vinyltetrahydro-4oxoquinoline.

-KMnO 4 -mediated oxidation of the title compound (V) gives the desired lactone (VI) in low yield. With other oxidation reagents the derivatives (III), (VII) and/or (VIII) are obtained. Treatment of (V) with NBS leads to the unexpected products (VII) and (IX). Reduction with LiAlH 4 also does not yield the expected product but the ketone (X). A further unusual behavior is observed by attempted protection of the diol (XI). -

Synthesis and Reactivity of N-Alkyl-2-oxoalkanesulfonamides. -A series of title compounds are obtained by the reaction of silyl ethers with sulfamoyl chlorides. Their reactivity towards MeI and acyl chlorides is studied in order to explore the regio-and stereoselectivity of the process. Sulfonamide
