Synthesis and Properties of 2-Substituted 4-Hydroxy-4-isoxazoline-3ones.

-The synthesis of hitherto not described 2-substituted 4-hydroxyisoxazolinones (IV) via intramolecular cyclization of generally unstable bromopyruvohydroxamic acids (III) is accomplished. The novel heterocycles display moderate to good activity against selected phytopathogenic fungi. 4-Hydroxyisoxazolines readily undergo O-methylation (β†’ (VI)), O-acylation (β†’ (VIII)) and O-carbamoylation (β†’ (X)). -(GEFFKEN, D.; VON BRANDIS,
