Synthesis and Crystal Structure of M(Nb6Cl15) (M: In, Tl): New Ternary Niobium Halides with Bridged (Nb6Cl18)4-Clusters.
-The title compounds are prepared in ΒΏ 90% yield by solid state reaction of M (M: In, Tl), NbCl5 and Nb at 720 β’ C. Single crystal XRD data are reported for In(Nb6Cl15). The isotypic title compounds crystallize in the orthorhombic space group Pmma with Z = 4. The structure contains (Nb6Cl18)4-clusters connected via terminal chloride ligands to form two sets of chains perpendicular to each other. The chains are linked to a three-dimensional network by other terminal ligands.
