Synthesis and Application of the First Chiral and Highly Lewis Acidic Silyl Cationic Catalyst.

-Cationic silyl compounds containing a chiral dimethylbinaphthyl backbone are synthesized and used as highly active Lewis acid catalysts for (hetero) Diels-Alder reactions with modest enantioselectivity.
