✦ Synopsis

Synthesis and Antitumor Evaluation of New Thiazolo(5,4-b)quinoline Derivatives.

-A new synthetic pathway to title compounds such as (II), (III), (IV), ( VI), (VIII), and (XI) uses thiazoles (I) as starting compounds. Cyclocondensation of (I) as well as of (X) is accomplished with the nonoxidative system POCl3/PPA, that can be used at high temperature. Among eight derivatives, compound (VI) exhibits significant cytotoxicity against mouse leukemic P-388, human lung carcinoma A-549, and human colon tumor HT-29 cell growth in vitro.
