✦ Synopsis

Syntheses of Novel Glycosylidene-spiro-heterocycles Related to Hydantocidin. -Both anomers (III) and (IV), representing the first examples of glycosyl thiocyanates with a quaternary anomeric center, are prepared by reaction of bromide (I) with either KSCN or AgSCN. They are resistent to isomerization into isothiocyanates even at elevated temperatures and react with H 2 S under mild conditions to give the target spiro compounds.
