β¦ Synopsis
Structure of ITQ-4, a New Pure Silica Polymorph Containing Large Pores and a Large Void Volume.
-The new zeolite material ITQ-4 is prepared hydrothermally from a mixture of SiO2, HF, H2O, and an organic template at 150 β’ C and calcined at 650 β’ C. The structure (monoclinic, I2/m), which is solved by direct methods from the synchrotron powder XRD data, consists of a 12-membered sinusoidal channel. The sinuosity and the high density of channels explains the large pore volume (0.21 m3/g) which is only surpassed by that of pure silica zeolite beta (0.22 cm3/ g). The high degee of crystallographic order is due to the absence of Al and Si-OH defect structures.
