-Pure silica [SiO 2 ] 64 (ITQ-3) is obtained from SiO 2 by hydrothermal synthesis .1]octane as structuredirecting agent (H 2 O, HF, 150 β’ C, autoclave, 7 d) and subsequent calcination. XRD analysis shows an orthorhombic crystal system with Cmcm symmetry. Calcined ITQ-3 consists of a three-dimensional framework of 4-connected SiO 4 -tetrahedra with no Si-O-Si connectivity defects.
