Abstract

The decomplexation of phenanthroline or bipyridine ligands from several molybdenum alkylidene complexes using ZnCl~2~ as activation agent releases tetracoordinate molybdenum complexes, which catalyze high‐yielding metathesis reactions under mild conditions (the activation is carried out at temperatures of 60 to 100°C, the metathesis reaction in the most cases at 25°C).
