✦ Synopsis

Reactions of 2-Cyano-3-ethoxy-5,5-dimethylcyclohex-2-en-1-one with 2-Amino-and 2-Hydrazinobenzimidazoles.

-Reaction of the 2-cyanodimedone (I) with 2-aminobenzimidazole (II) gives the quinazolinobenzimidazole (III). Similar reaction of (I) with hydrazinobenzimidazole (IV) provides the tetrahydroindazolone (V) instead of the expected triazepine (VI).
