✦ Synopsis

Gould-Jacobs Reaction of 5-and 6-Amino-2-substituted-benzoxazoles. Part 3. Reaction with 3-Ethoxy-2-cyanopropeno-nitrile and Ethyl 3-Ethoxy-2-cyanopropenoate.

-Reaction of 5-and 6-aminobenzoxazoles (I) or (VI), resp., with the title 3-ethoxyacrylic acid derivatives (II) provides the nucleophilic substitution products (III) or (VII), resp., in good to high yield. Thermal cyclization of the products derived from 3-ethoxy-2-cyanopropenoate provides a mixture of angularly and linearly anellated oxazoloquinoline deriva-
