Reaction of Some Heterocyclic Ketones with Acetonitrile in Acidic Medium.

-Reaction of the thiopyranone (I) with acetonitrile in the presence of sulfuric acid gives the acetamide (III) while the thiopyranone (IV) provides the diacetamide (V). In contrast to previously described 4piperidinones, no bisacetamides are observed.
