Pyrolytic Cyclization Reactions of 3-Azolylpropenyl Alcohols; Unexpectedly Facile Thermal Decomposition of 5H-Pyrrolo[2,1-a]isoindole.
-Pyrolysis of the title alcohols (I) and (III) leads to loss of H 2 O and formation of the heterocyclic products (II) and (IV), respectively. Pyrolysis of alcohol (V) yields the title isoindole (IV) which decomposes at 900 • C by loss of HCN to give the hydrocarbons (VI) and (VII) as major products (no yields given). -(CLARK, BERNARD A.
