Preparation of 1,2-Disubstituted-3-hydroxy-4(1H)-quinolinones and the Influence of Substitution on the Course of Cyclization.
-The synthesis of the title quinolinones (IV) by cyclization of N-substituted anthranilates (III) in moderate to good yields is described. The PPA-induced cyclization has a wide scope of applicability whilst the application of the thermal cyclization is limited by steric effects.
