Preparation and Heterocyclization Reactions of Ferrocenylazido Ketones. Useful Building Blocks for the Synthesis of Ferrocenyl-Substituted Azaheterocycles.

-Several ferrocenylaryl ketones bearing an azido functionality at the ortho-position of the aryl ring are prepared. Derivatives (IV), (XII), and (XVII) are transformed either by conversion to iminophosphoranes and following aza-Wittig reaction with isocyanates to quinazolines (IX) and quinolines (XX), or by thermal treatment to benzisoxazoles (XIII) and indoles (XIV) and (XVIII). -(MOLINA, P.; TARRAGA, A.;
