Preparation and Crystal Structure of Potassium Iron Hydrogen Phosphate, KFe 3 (HPO 4 ) 2 (H 2 PO 4 ) 6 •4H 2 O. -Colorless single crystals of the title compound are prepared hydrothermally at 290 • C from Fe 2 O 3 , H 3 PO 4 , K 2 CO 3 , and a small amount of water and characterized by single crystal XRD methods. The structure (monoclinic, C2/c, Z = 4), which is isotypic with those of (H 3 O)M 3 (HPO 4 ) 2 (H 2 PO 4 ) 6 •4H 2 O (M(III): Fe, Al), is built-up from layers of two distinct types of PO 4 tetrahedra and two kinds of FeO 6 octahedra alternating with layers of H 2 O. Calculations of the ECoN, MEFIR, CHARDI, and MAPLE values confirm the existence of hydrogen bonds. -(ANISIMOVA, N.;
