-Three phosphine catalysts are tested in the reaction of ( )fullerene ( I) with esters (II) and (IV). PBu3 is found to be the most reactive under the optimized reaction conditions. The structure of product (III) is characterized by spectroscopic methods and X-ray analysis. -(O'
