Free-radical cyclization of halocarbonyl compounds can be achieved using the organosilane reagents phenylsilane and tristrimethylsilylsilane. Both 6-exotrig and 5-exo-trig cyclizations can be accomplished using aldehydes or ketones as radical traps.
