A four-component assembly of substituted di-O-acylglyceric acid amides has been developed from a-diazoketones. The process involves copper-catalyzed reaction of the a-diazoketone with a carboxylic acid, and subsequent Passerini condensation of the in situ formed a-acyloxyketone.
