โฆ Synopsis
Isolated and Edge-Connected Tetramers {(C 2 ) 2 O 2 Dy 14 } in the Crystal Structures of {(C2)2O2Dy14}I24 and {(C2)2O2Dy12}I18. -{(C2)2O2Dy14}I24 (I) is synthesized by reaction of DyI3, Dy, Dy2O3, graphite, and NaI as a flux (Ta container, 1000 ยฐC, 10 d), and {(C2)2O2Dy12}I18 (II) by reaction of DyI3, Dy, and graphite in the presence of Fe powder (Ta container, 1000 ยฐC, 8 d). Both compounds are characterized by single crystal XRD. (I) crystallizes in the space group P1 with Z = 2. The crystal structure consists of isolated tetramers {(C2)2O2Dy14} which are composed of two (C2)Dy6 octahedra and two ODy4 tetrahedra, all sharing common edges. (II) crystallizes in the space group P6/m with Z = 8. The crystal structure features the same tetrameric building blocks, but connected through common octahedral edges to a polymeric chain. -(DAUB, K.;
