✦ Synopsis

The induced decomposition of the unsaturated peroxy acetal (IV) in the presence of CCl 4 or ethyl iodoacetate leads to its chloro-or iododecarbonylation with good yields. This reaction is also applied to the monoperoxy ketal (VIII) and the diperoxy ketal (X) of cyclohexanone. The title decomposition appears to be a useful method of decarbonylative functionalization of aldehydes and deacylative functionalization of ketones.
