β¦ Synopsis
Equiatomic Quaternary Rare Earth Element Zinc Pnictide Oxides LnZnPO and LnZnAsO. -The phosphide oxides LaZnPO and CeZnPO as well as all the obtained arsenide oxides LnZnAsO (Ln: Y, La-Nd, Sm, Gd-Dy) crystallize in the tetragonal ZrCuSiAs-type structure, while phosphide oxides LnZnPO with Ln: Y, Pr, Nd, Sm, Gd-Tm crystallize in a new trigonal rhombohedral structure (space group Rr3rm, Z = 6). In both structure types rare earth element-oxygen layers alternate with zinc-pnictogen layers. Optical properties clearly indicate that the tetragonal crystals have a smaller band gap and thus, a more metallic character than the trigonal ones. -(NIENTIEDT,
