✦ Synopsis
The Crystal Structure of YPdSi, the Isotypic Compounds LnPdSi (Ln: Gd-Lu), and Their Structural Relation to Some Other Equiatomic Compounds of the Rare Earth and Transition Metals with Main Group Elements.
-The nine title compounds are prepared by arcmelting of the elements followed by annealing in vacuum (1017 K, 14 d). Their structures are determined by powder XRD. Single crystal XRD data are given for YPdSi, β-GdPdSi, and ErPdSi (space group Pmmn, Z = 8). The structure of the isotypic compounds consists of sheets of condensed, six-membered rings of alternating Pd and Si atoms. These two-dimensional nets are interconnected via weak Pd-Si and Si-Si bonds. The lanthanide ions are located above and below the Pd-Si rings. The previously described compound "Er 2 Pd 2 Si" has the same structure as found for ErPdSi. -(PROTS', Y. M.;
