✦ Synopsis

Encapsulation of Silicon Nanoclusters in Zeolite Y. -Luminescent Si clusters are synthesized by chemical vapor deposition of Si 2 H 6 into the Ξ±-cages of H 32 Na 24 Y zeolite. Every cage contains 38 H atoms. Subsequent heating of the entrapped disilane precursors leads to the formation of Si clusters which is completed at 550 β€’ C. The average size of the resulting Si clusters is 12 Β±2 Si atoms. They are stable against air and exhibit a room-temp. photoluminescence in the green-yellow region with a peak energy at β‰ˆ2.2 eV. -(HE,
