β¦ Synopsis
Encapsulation of Silicon Nanoclusters in Zeolite Y. -Luminescent Si clusters are synthesized by chemical vapor deposition of Si 2 H 6 into the Ξ±-cages of H 32 Na 24 Y zeolite. Every cage contains 38 H atoms. Subsequent heating of the entrapped disilane precursors leads to the formation of Si clusters which is completed at 550 β’ C. The average size of the resulting Si clusters is 12 Β±2 Si atoms. They are stable against air and exhibit a room-temp. photoluminescence in the green-yellow region with a peak energy at β2.2 eV. -(HE,
