โฆ Synopsis
Edge-Sharing SiN4 Tetrahedra in the Highly Condensed Nitridosilicate BaSi7N10.
-Transparent, colorless crystals of the novel title compound are prepared by reaction of Ba and Si(NH)2 at 1650 โข C in a highfrequency furnace. The structure (monoclinic, Pc, Z = 2), as determined by single-crystal XRD, consists of a three-dimensional framework of both cornerand edge-sharing SiN4 tetrahedra. This compound, in which vertex-sharing is not exclusively in favor of edge-sharing, represents the most highly condensed multinary nitridosilicate hitherto known. It exhibits almost the same degree of condensation as Si3N4.
