## Abstract Acyclic nucleosides of 4‐nitro‐1__H__‐imidazole and 4‐nitropyrazole have been synthesized by nucleophilic addition of the appropriate 4‐nitroazole to (βˆ’)‐(__S__)‐(hydroxymethyl)oxirane in the presence of a catalytic amount of potassium carbonate.
