Reaction of α-Diazo Ketones: Stereoselective Synthesis of 2,3-cis-2-Alkyl-5-oxo-3-silyloxycyclopentanecarboxylates.

-In continuation of earlier studies the title reaction leading to cyclopentanones such as (VII) and (VIII) is investigated. Lower reaction temperatures result in lower yields. It is noteworthy that other protecting groups in (Va) such as Tms, ethoxyethyl or pivaloyl instead of Tbs give complex mixtures in such a reaction.
