β¦ Synopsis
Crystal Structure of Er 2 Fe 17 Nitride.
-The crystal structure of the title compound, its real composition is Er 1.85 Fe 17.3 N 2.58 , is determined by neutron diffraction and should be described as a partially disordered Th 2 Ni 17 -type. Its peculiar feature is a random substitution of Fe-atoms ("dumbbells") for Er atoms. N atoms in this nitride occupy mainly only one type of interstitial 6h-sites.
