-Insertion reactions to afford (IV), addition reactions to give (V) and (VII), cycloaddition reactions to yield (IX) and (XI), and reactions with heterocumulenes, e.g. (XIII), leading to the spiro compound (XIV) are described for the stable carbene (II) or its precursor (I).
