✦ Synopsis
Ce 2 Ti 2 SiO 9 -The First Titanate-Silicate with Cerium -Preparation, Characterization, and Structure.
-Single crystals of the title compound are prepared by chemical vapor transport reaction using Ce 2 Ti 2 O 7 as precursor and NH 4 Cl as transport agent (temp. gradient 1050→900 • C, quartz tube, wall reaction). Ce 2 Ti 2 SiO 9 crystallizes in the monoclinic space group C2/m with Z = 4. The structure contains chains of edge-sharing TiO 6 octahedra which are interconnected via Ti 2 O 10 double octahedra and SiO 4 tetrahedra.
