โœฆ Synopsis

Catalytic Transformations of Vinylthiiranes by Tungsten Carbonyl Complexes. A New Route to 3,6-Dihydro-1,2-dithiins.

-Two equivalents of vinylthiiranes (I) are transformed in the presence of W(CO) 5 (MeCN) catalyst to dithiins (II) and butadiene in good yields. Complexes W(CO) 4 (PPhR 2 )(MeCN) (R = Me, Ph), containing phosphine ligands, show a significantly higher catalytic activity as the pentacarbonyl tungsten complex. A dithiintungstenpentacarbonyl complex is isolated and characterized as a species of the catalytic cycle. -(
