✦ Synopsis

Branched-Chain Fluoro Nitro D-and L-Sugars from Glucose.

-Treatment of the Ξ±-D-glucopyranoside (Ia) with DAST leads to the 6-fluorinated derivative (IIa). Fluorination of the thio analogue (Ib) gives the 6-fluorinated compound (IIb) or the rearranged products (III) and (IV) depending on the conditions used. The L-sugars react similarly.
