An Efficient Hetero Diels-Alder Approach to Imidazo[4,5c]pyridazines as Purine Analogues.

-The synthesis of purine analogue (VII) relies on the hetero Diels-Alder reaction of vinylimidazole (I) with dienophile (II) producing the desired ring system in compound (III). Aromatization followed by hydrazinolysis gives the two isomers (V) and (VI). Intramolecular deprotection of the major isomer (V) is achieved upon heating in DMSO, leading directly to the target imidazopyridazine (VII). -(DEGHATI,
