✦ Synopsis

An Anomalous Dakin-West Reaction of N-Carbamate Substituted Prolines and Trifluoroacetic Anhydride. -The title reaction of proline derivatives, like (I) and (V), with anhydride (II) leads to the corresponding dihydropyrroles (III) and (V). A mechanism of this unexpected reaction is discussed. The structure of product (IIIb) is determined by X-ray analysis.
