✦ Synopsis

A Novel Route to Monoanomeric Spiroketals.

-The readily prepared spiroketal C2-acetal (XI) undergoes regioselective reaction with allylsilane. However, a monoanomeric spiroketal (XIII) is unexpectedly the major product. The sequence provides a model for the synthesis of the CD subunit of altohyrtin A.
