A Convenient Procedure for the Synthesis of 4,6-Disubstituted 2-Oxo-2H-pyran-5-carboxylic Esters. -The Michael addition products of β-ketoester anions of (I) with acetylenic esters (II) readily cyclize under basic reaction conditions to give 2H-pyran-2-ones (III) (8 examples).
