A Convenient One-Step Gingerol Synthesis. -A facile one-step synthesis of racemic gingerol derivatives (III) by addition of aldehydes to the dianion of zingerone (I) is reported. The corresponding shogaols (IV) can be obtained by acid treatment of the corresponding gingerols. -(FLEMING,

A Convenient One Step Anodic Synthesis of 3-Alkyl Indoles.
-The reaction conditions for the anodic synthesis of title compounds (III) are optimized. The following conditions are shown to afford best yields of (III): neutralization of the reaction solution to an extent of 50%, current density 0.1111 A cm -2 , molar ratio (I) : (II) = 1 : 1 (in the case of (Ia) and (IIa), where a molar ratio of 1 : 10 gives a yield of 49%). -(YADAV, ASHOK K.; SINGH,
