✦ Synopsis

Reaction of Ξ±,Ξ²-unsaturated trifluoromethyl ketones (I) with primary enamines in the presence of POCl 3 and pyridine adsorbed on silica gel and following oxidation of the resulting dihydropyridines provides a high-yielding synthesis of title compounds (III) (16 examples).
