Hexahydro-4a-methyl-7,7-diphenyl-1(2H)-naphthalenone.

-A clean and efficient route to the hitherto not reported title compound (VIII) starting from the known 3-ethenylcyclohexanone (I) is given. The approach represents a general strategy for the synthesis of related 7,7-diarylhexahydronaphthalenones. -(
