2,3-Dihydro-1H-1,5-benzodiazepines: A Conversion of Thiolactams to Amidines.

-Benzodiazepinone derivatives (I) are transformed into the corresponding thiolactams (II), which can be converted to a new series of diversely substituted amidines [cf. (IV), (V)]. Ammonia, primary amines and hydrazine give good yields, while secondary amines give low yields only. -(
