✦ Synopsis

1,3-Transposition of Allylic Alcohols Catalyzed by Methyltrioxorhenium. -The kinetics and theoretical calculations of the 1,3-rearrangement of allylic alcohols with MeReO 3 catalyst to generate the more stable isomer are studied. The direction of the equilibrium is largely influenced by the nature of the OH group in the case of aliphatic allylic alcohols. For aromatic alcohols, the more conjugated isomer predominates. The reaction is strongly inhibited by traces of H 2 O. -(JACOB,
